Iran's Parliamentary Reaction to US Negotiations

Following the recent stalemate in discussions between Iran and the United States, Mahmoud Nabavian, a member of the Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, expressed his discontent regarding the negotiations that took place in Pakistan. In an interview snippet shared on SNN TV, he labeled the decision to address Iran's nuclear concerns in Pakistan as a 'strategic error'. He emphasized on social media, stating, "Bringing the nuclear issue to the negotiation table in Pakistan was a strategic mistake."

Nabavian further elaborated that the negotiations in Pakistan were a misstep, asserting that it emboldened adversaries. He noted that the US had insisted on the removal of Iran's 60% enriched uranium and a 20-year blockade on its nuclear program, demands that Tehran rejected, according to reports from Iran International.

Current Status of the Ceasefire

Where does the ceasefire stand?

The situation surrounding a ceasefire that was initiated two weeks ago remains uncertain. Recently, US President Donald Trump made a seemingly unilateral declaration to extend the ceasefire while discussions regarding an Iranian proposal for peace talks were ongoing. He minimized the urgency to conclude the conflict, asserting that a favorable deal for the US would eventually be reached. In a post on Truth Social, he remarked, "With Iran, please be advised that I am possibly the least pressured person ever to be in this position. I have all the time in the World, but Iran doesn't -- The clock is ticking!"

Trump further stated, "Iran's Navy is lying at the bottom of the Sea, their Air Force is demolished, their Anti Aircraft and Radar Weaponry is gone, their leaders are no longer with us, the Blockade is airtight and strong and, from there, it only gets worse -- Time is not on their side! A Deal will only be made when it's appropriate and good for the United States of America, our Allies and, in fact, the rest of the World," highlighting the precarious situation Iran finds itself in.
