Iranian Embassy in New Delhi Thanks Indian Citizens for Humanitarian Support
Embassy Acknowledges Support Amid Technical Challenges
New Delhi, March 16: The Iranian Embassy in New Delhi has expressed its appreciation to Indian citizens who have shown a willingness to provide humanitarian assistance to those affected by the ongoing conflict in Iran. However, the embassy has indicated that there are technical issues hindering the acceptance of contributions through online banking methods.
In a message posted on X, the embassy conveyed gratitude to “our dear Indian brothers and sisters for their unwavering support,” while also acknowledging the complications surrounding online fund transfers. The post stated, “Due to some reported difficulties in transferring funds to the Embassy’s account, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to our dear Indian brothers and sisters for their continued support.”
Donors were advised to refrain from using GP (GPay) for the time being and were encouraged to make cash donations directly at the embassy.
“Cash donations may be made directly at the Embassy,” the message noted, thanking supporters for their solidarity and patience. Embassy representatives also mentioned that they are actively working to resolve the issues related to online transfers.
This appeal comes in light of rising tensions in West Asia, where military actions by Israel and the United States against Iranian targets have escalated. In retaliation, Iran has launched counterattacks across the Gulf region, targeting assets of the US and Israel. As the conflict deepens, the humanitarian consequences have led citizens globally, including those in India, to seek avenues for providing assistance.
Just a day prior to this advisory, the embassy had shared its bank account information online after receiving numerous inquiries from Indian citizens eager to contribute. They provided details of their State Bank of India account and requested that donors send payment confirmations via WhatsApp if they chose to make electronic transfers.
While the embassy continues to facilitate donations, officials emphasized that, due to ongoing technical difficulties, cash contributions remain the most dependable method for supporting relief efforts for Iranians impacted by the conflict.
The embassy’s communication underscores the readiness of Indian citizens to assist during crises, as well as the practical challenges of ensuring secure and timely delivery of humanitarian aid amidst banking and technological obstacles.
India and Iran share a rich history of cultural, economic, and diplomatic relations, which have been strengthened over time through collaboration in various sectors, including trade, energy, and regional development.
