Iran Launches Missile Strikes on US Naval Base in Bahrain Amid Rising Tensions
Iran's Missile Attack on US Base
On Saturday, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran announced that it had executed missile strikes targeting the US naval base located in Juffair, Bahrain, which is the home of the fifth fleet. The IRGC reported that both solid-fuel and liquid-fuel missiles were utilized in this operation. This military action was described by Iran as a retaliation for an alleged attack by US forces on a desalination facility situated on Qeshm Island.

The IRGC labeled the personnel at the base as 'American terrorists' and claimed that the missiles were aimed with precision at the facility. Iran emphasized that this strike was a direct reaction to operations that had been launched from the Juffair base, a crucial center for American naval activities in the Persian Gulf. The Iranian government accused the US of conducting 'aggressive actions' that had negatively impacted the water plant on Qeshm Island, asserting that the missile strike was a necessary response to American hostility against vital Iranian infrastructure.
In a statement shared on X, the IRGC confirmed that both types of missiles were fired at the base, framing the attack as a calculated and precise response to US provocations.
Ballistic Missile Incident Near Prince Sultan Air Base
What Happened Near Prince Sultan Air Base?
In a related development, Saudi Arabia reported that a ballistic missile fell near the Prince Sultan Air Base after being launched towards the military site, amidst escalating tensions in the Gulf region. Fortunately, the missile landed in an uninhabited area, resulting in no casualties or damage, as stated by the Saudi Defense Ministry.
According to spokesperson Turki al-Malki, the missile was aimed at the significant air base located close to Riyadh, approximately 80 kilometers southeast of the capital in Al-Kharj. Local media highlighted the base's importance as a military facility for the kingdom.
Saudi officials confirmed that the missile landed in an empty area following its launch, and no injuries were reported. This announcement came during a period marked by a surge in missile and drone attacks linked to the ongoing tensions in the Gulf.
The Saudi Defense Ministry indicated that while the ballistic missile was aimed at the air base, it fell in a non-populated area, thus avoiding damage to infrastructure or local communities. Additionally, Saudi air defenses successfully intercepted several incoming threats targeting various locations across the nation. The defense forces reported the destruction of three ballistic missiles aimed at Prince Sultan Air Base before they could reach their targets.
This base is pivotal for Saudi Arabia's military operations and serves as a strategic site for air defense and coalition activities in the region. Saudi air defense systems also intercepted and neutralized multiple drones targeting energy and strategic sites throughout the kingdom. Notably, 14 drones heading towards the Shaybah Oilfield were intercepted in the Empty Quarter, one of the largest desert regions globally. Furthermore, defense forces shot down six additional drones aimed at the same oilfield, and another drone targeting Riyadh was intercepted prior to reaching the city. Earlier, Saudi forces had also reported intercepting two cruise missiles in eastern Al-Kharj.
