Iran's Retaliation Against US-Israel Offensive

In a dramatic escalation, Iran reportedly targeted the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier with missile strikes on March 1, just a day after the death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei due to a coordinated attack by the United States and Israel. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced that four ballistic missiles were launched at the carrier, although the US has yet to confirm this incident.

The IRGC's statement emphasized, "Following the proud actions of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the attack on American-Zionist enemy targets, the Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier of the US Army was attacked with four ballistic missiles." They further declared that the military actions mark a new phase in their operations, asserting that both land and sea would increasingly become perilous for invading forces.

In response to the joint US-Israel strikes, Iran initiated Operation 'True Promise 4' in the Indian Ocean, targeting US military installations across Gulf nations, including the UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Qatar. The USS Abraham Lincoln is currently positioned in the Middle East for potential offensive operations against Iran. Earlier reports also indicated that a US combat vessel was struck by Iranian missiles.

Khamenei's Death in US-Israel Strikes: Khamenei was killed during the airstrikes conducted by US and Israeli forces on Saturday, which involved Israeli jets dropping approximately 30 bombs on the complex in Tehran where he resided. The Israeli military provided details of the operation, stating, "The Air Force, under precise intelligence guidance from Military Intelligence, attacked the leadership compound in the heart of Tehran where he was staying along with other senior officials." Alongside Khamenei, Iran's defense minister Amir Naserzadeh and Commander-in-Chief Mohammad Pakpour were also reported killed.
