Iran Launches Missile and Drone Strikes on Kuwaiti Infrastructure
Iran's Aggressive Actions Target Kuwait
On Friday, Iran executed missile and drone strikes against Kuwait, impacting a power and water desalination facility along with several military installations. This assault resulted in significant damage to essential infrastructure and left multiple military personnel injured. The Kuwaiti Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy reported that the attack ignited a fire at the desalination plant and caused harm to several power generation units. Fortunately, the fire has been brought under control, and repair efforts are currently in progress. Given that approximately 90% of Kuwait's drinking water is sourced from desalination, this facility is crucial for the nation.
Kuwaiti Military Reports Casualties from Drone Assaults
The Kuwaiti Army issued a statement indicating that the "sinful Iranian aggression" led to the targeting of various military facilities and camps, resulting in injuries among several personnel from the Kuwaiti Land Force while they were on duty. However, the military did not specify the number of injuries sustained.
This recent attack comes on the heels of a series of US strikes aimed at infrastructure in southern Iran. Iranian officials reported explosions in multiple locations, including Ahvaz, Qeshm, and Bandar Abbas, with the latter being one of the most severely affected areas. According to Iranian media, US strikes targeted the Kahurestan Bridge and a residential zone in Bandar Abbas, resulting in two fatalities and eight injuries. Additionally, damage was reported at a railway facility and a communications tower, leading to power outages in surrounding regions.
Officials from Hormozgan province noted that six bridges along vital transport routes were damaged. Furthermore, Iranshahr Airport and a civilian airport building in Semnan were reportedly hit, along with a bottled water facility in Dehloran and areas surrounding the Khondab heavy-water facility. Iranian media also mentioned that over 200 patients were evacuated from Baghaei Specialized Hospital in Ahvaz after the strikes rendered the facility non-operational, although no casualties were reported from there.
