On Friday, Iran's military announced that it had successfully downed a second US aircraft in the Gulf, following earlier reports of an F-15 fighter jet crashing in the southwestern region of the country. Iranian state media reiterated that the A-10 was hit by air defense systems, as reported by the Army's public relations office.
According to ABC News, citing a US official, the A-10 was struck by fire from Iran and subsequently crashed in Kuwait, with the pilot being rescued. Earlier, The Associated Press indicated that another US Air Force combat aircraft had gone down in the Middle East on the same day, but further details regarding the pilot's condition or location were not immediately available. The Pentagon and the White House have yet to provide a response to these incidents. The A-10 Warthog is designed as a single-seat aircraft.
