Iran has reportedly targeted an Oracle data center in Dubai, escalating tensions following a previous attack on an Amazon cloud facility in Bahrain. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claims these actions are retaliatory, signaling a broader strategy against US-linked technology infrastructures in the Gulf. The IRGC has warned American tech firms of potential strikes starting April 1, listing major companies as targets. In response, the US has stated its military is prepared to counter any Iranian threats. This situation raises significant concerns about regional stability and the safety of international tech operations.

Iran Claims Attack on Oracle Data Center in Dubai Amid Rising Tensions

Iran's Allegation of Targeting Oracle's Facility

On Thursday, Iranian state media reported that the country had targeted an Oracle Corporation data center located in Dubai. This incident marks a significant escalation following a previous claim regarding an attack on an Amazon cloud facility in Bahrain. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated that they had specifically aimed at Oracle's site in Dubai, although this assertion has not been independently verified.

This reported attack comes on the heels of the IRGC's earlier announcement that it had struck an Amazon cloud computing center in Bahrain. According to state media, these actions are framed as retaliation for assaults on Iranian soil, indicating an expanding focus on US-affiliated technological infrastructures in the Gulf region.

The situation intensified after the IRGC issued a warning on Tuesday, declaring intentions to target significant American tech and industrial companies starting April 1. The list included major firms such as Microsoft, Google, Apple, Intel, IBM, Tesla, and Boeing, with a caution that their operations in the region could be compromised.

“These companies should prepare for the destruction of their respective units in response to any acts of aggression against Iran, beginning at 8 pm Tehran time on Wednesday, April 1st,” the IRGC stated. They further emphasized that American ICT and AI companies would be deemed legitimate targets, asserting, “As these companies play a crucial role in designing and tracking targets, they will be our primary focus.”

The IRGC also advised employees of these firms to vacate their workplaces promptly to ensure their safety. In response to these threats, a representative from the White House indicated that the United States is ready to counter any potential Iranian attacks, stating, “The United States military is prepared to thwart any assaults by Iran,” and noted that recent measures have already resulted in a significant decrease in missile and drone strikes.
