A 60-day negotiation process is set to begin once Iran verifies these actions. Negotiations Dependent on US Commitments

On Sunday, Kazem Gharibabadi, Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister, stated that the upcoming negotiations between Tehran and Washington hinge on the United States meeting essential commitments outlined in a newly established memorandum of understanding. In an interview with Iranian state media, Gharibabadi indicated that a 60-day negotiation period would commence only after Iran confirms that the US has enacted several measures, including the release of Iranian funds that have been frozen.

He emphasized that these commitments involve "lifting and ending the naval blockade," "ceasing military operations and the state of war," and "releasing Iran's frozen assets." Gharibabadi remarked, "The initiation of the 60-day negotiations is contingent upon the US fulfilling its obligations." He further noted that once Tehran verifies these actions, particularly regarding financial commitments, discussions in technical working groups would start promptly.

Gharibabadi mentioned that some arrangements were discussed overnight, but further talks in Switzerland, following the formal signing of the memorandum, would concentrate on the framework for future negotiations, the establishment of working groups, and other implementation strategies.

He confirmed that the text of the memorandum of understanding between the US and Iran has been finalized and is set to be officially signed in Switzerland on Friday. Gharibabadi stated, "Our commitments will commence on Friday," adding that two specific measures would take effect immediately, including "a permanent and immediate cessation of hostilities on all fronts, including Lebanon," and "the lifting of the naval blockade imposed by the United States against Iran."

In a separate announcement, Iran's Supreme National Security Council revealed that it had completed the memorandum of understanding for a ceasefire agreement with the US, guided by Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei. The council expressed gratitude to Pakistan and Qatar for their mediation efforts during the lengthy negotiations. The agreement stipulates an immediate halt to military actions on all fronts, including Lebanon, and the prompt lifting of the US naval blockade on Iran. A formal signing ceremony is scheduled for Friday, with discussions for a broader peace agreement to follow.

These developments occurred shortly after US President Donald Trump declared that an agreement with Iran had been finalized and that the US would lift its naval blockade. Trump shared on Truth Social, "The Deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran is now complete. Congratulations to all!"
