Iran's Accusations Against the US

On Sunday, Iranian officials claimed that the United States is covertly planning a ground assault while publicly discussing negotiations. Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, criticized US President Donald Trump for his willingness to engage in talks with Iran while simultaneously plotting a military action. Ghalibaf's comments followed reports from US media suggesting imminent ground operations in Iran. He stated, "The enemy is openly sending a message of negotiation and secretly planning a ground attack. Our forces are prepared to confront American soldiers on the ground." Earlier reports indicated that the Pentagon is gearing up for extended ground operations in Iran, coinciding with the deployment of 3,500 troops from the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit to West Asia.

Pakistan to Facilitate US-Iran Mediation Talks

Pakistan Hosts US-Iran Mediation Talks in Islamabad

Pakistan is preparing to host significant mediation discussions aimed at addressing the ongoing conflict involving the US, Israel, and Iran. At the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, key figures including Saudi Arabia's Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, Turkey's Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, and Egypt's Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty will gather in Islamabad over the weekend. The Trump administration previously proposed a 15-point plan for a potential ceasefire with Iran, although Iran initially denied any negotiations were occurring. Nevertheless, intermediaries have confirmed that messages are being exchanged between Washington and Tehran.

As tensions with Iran escalate, over 3,500 US troops have been deployed to West Asia. This includes the USS Tripoli, which carries approximately 2,500 Marines and has entered the region as part of its operational responsibilities, according to US Central Command (CENTCOM). The USS Tripoli, a state-of-the-art amphibious warship, features a large flight deck capable of accommodating F-35 Lightning II aircraft and other aviation assets. Previously stationed in Japan and conducting exercises near Taiwan, the ship was redirected to the Middle East about two weeks ago. CENTCOM noted that the vessel enhances transport and strike capabilities, alongside amphibious assault functions. Additionally, the USS Boxer and two other ships, along with another Marine Expeditionary Unit, have been dispatched from San Diego to the area.

US Prepares for Weeks of Ground Operations in Iran, Says Report

Reports indicate that the US is preparing for extended ground operations in Iran. According to a recent article, these operations will not constitute a full-scale invasion but will involve raids by special forces and conventional infantry. Such missions could expose US personnel to various threats, including Iranian drones, missiles, ground fire, and improvised explosive devices. It remains uncertain whether President Trump will endorse the Pentagon's strategy, especially as recent statements from the administration suggest that the conflict in Iran may be "winding down."
