Iran Accuses US of Secret Ground Attack Plans Amid Negotiations
Iran's Accusations Against the US
On Sunday, Iranian officials claimed that the United States is covertly planning a ground assault while publicly discussing negotiations. Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, criticized US President Donald Trump for his willingness to engage in talks with Iran while simultaneously plotting a military action. Ghalibaf's comments followed reports from US media suggesting imminent ground operations in Iran. He stated, "The enemy is openly sending a message of negotiation and secretly planning a ground attack. Our forces are prepared to confront American soldiers on the ground." Earlier reports indicated that the Pentagon is gearing up for extended ground operations in Iran, coinciding with the deployment of 3,500 troops from the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit to West Asia.

According to a recent article, these operations will not constitute a full-scale invasion but will involve raids by special forces and conventional infantry. Such missions could expose US personnel to various threats, including Iranian drones, missiles, ground fire, and improvised explosive devices. It remains uncertain whether President Trump will endorse the Pentagon's strategy, especially as recent statements from the administration suggest that the conflict in Iran may be "winding down."
