Iran's Allegations Against the US

Iran's permanent mission to the United Nations has accused the United States of exploiting the review meeting of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) to misrepresent Tehran's nuclear program and divert attention from Washington's own violations. This accusation comes amid escalating tensions between the two nations at the UN. In a statement shared on their official X account, the mission emphasized that all of Iran's enriched uranium is under the complete oversight of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), asserting that there is no evidence of any Iranian nuclear material being diverted for other uses.

Criticism of International Bodies

The statement also criticized international organizations, claiming that the UN Security Council, the IAEA's Director General, and the Board of Governors have not only failed to condemn these unlawful actions but have also taken steps that reversed the roles of victim and aggressor. Iran contended that the US is portraying its nuclear activities as a threat while advancing a politically motivated agenda through the NPT platform, neglecting its disarmament responsibilities.

Call for Stability in the Gulf Region

During the UN conference in New York, Iran's envoy Amir Saeed Iravani warned that to achieve lasting stability in the Gulf region, it is essential to halt ongoing attacks against Iran, which he described as 'persistent aggression.' He stressed the need for guarantees that such actions will not be repeated in the future and that Iran's sovereignty will be respected.

Support for Navigation Freedom

While speaking at the conference, he stated that Iran supports the freedom of navigation in critical waterways such as the Strait of Hormuz and the Gulf of Oman. However, he cautioned that escalating military tensions could undermine regional and global security, urging the UN Security Council to pay attention to this situation.

Accusations of Aggression

Iravani accused the US and Israel of engaging in a 'comprehensive and unjust aggressive war' against Iran since February 28, violating international law and the UN Charter, particularly Article 2. He further noted that these actions have disrupted maritime security. This situation has unfolded amid sharp exchanges between Washington and Tehran at the NPT review conference in New York, where Iran was elected as one of the vice-chairs for the month-long meeting.
