Iran Accuses US of Ceasefire Violations Amid Ongoing Diplomatic Efforts
Iran's Strong Accusations Against the US
On Tuesday, Iran leveled accusations against the United States, claiming it breached the ceasefire agreement through what it termed "aggressive actions" in the Hormozgan region, which includes the vital port city of Bandar Abbas. In a forceful statement, Tehran asserted that the US engaged in unlawful activities, including acts of “maritime piracy” against Iranian commercial vessels, despite ongoing diplomatic negotiations facilitated by Pakistan. This situation has intensified Iran's longstanding distrust of Washington.
According to Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, “The terrorist army of America, continuing its illegal and unjustified actions since the ceasefire announcement on 19 Farvardin 1405, particularly numerous instances of maritime piracy against Iranian commercial ships, has grossly violated the ceasefire in the Hormozgan region over the past 48 hours.” The statement further emphasized that these aggressive actions, occurring alongside diplomatic efforts mediated by Pakistan, reveal the American government's deceit and breach of trust towards Iran and the international community.
'Iran Will Respond to Aggression'
Iran condemned these actions as a blatant violation of Paragraph 4 of Article 2 of the United Nations Charter and the ceasefire agreement. The Iranian government stated, "We hold the American regime accountable for all consequences stemming from these aggressive actions." They affirmed, "The Islamic Republic of Iran will not let any act of wickedness go unanswered and will not hesitate to defend its sovereignty." Additionally, reports from the semi-official Tasnim news agency indicate that Iran has not consented to transfer its enriched uranium abroad during the latest peace discussions.
