Rain Delays IPL Match Start

Experiencing a floodlight failure is quite uncommon in prestigious tournaments like the IPL, yet the situation in Dharamsala has been less than ideal during match number 58 between PBKS and DC on May 8. Rain was the culprit that delayed the match's start, as heavy showers occurred just before the scheduled toss at 7 PM IST.

The downpour led to a one-hour postponement, shifting the match's start from the usual 7:30 PM IST to 8:30 PM IST after rain persisted for nearly an hour. Shreyas Iyer, the home captain, won the toss and opted to bat first, with his young opening pair, Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh, rising to the occasion.

The talented duo took on the DC bowlers, who struggled to find their rhythm, both scoring half-centuries. Priyansh Arya dazzled with a remarkable 70 runs off just 34 balls, placing PBKS in a strong position at 122/1 after 10.1 overs, right before the floodlights at the HPCA stadium experienced a malfunction.
