Investigation Underway in Himachal Pradesh Bomb Blast Incident
Ongoing Investigation into Bomb Blast in Nalagarh
The Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Sukhu, announced on Saturday that the National Investigation Agency (NIA) is currently looking into the bomb explosion that occurred in Nalagarh, Solan district. He stated that details regarding the perpetrators will only be available after the agency releases its report.
While addressing reporters in Solan, the Chief Minister mentioned that forensic experts from the state have collected samples from the blast site, and the CCTV footage from the area is also being examined.
During the foundation stone-laying ceremony for an excellence center for the differently-abled in Kandaghat, he emphasized that since the matter is under investigation, information about those responsible for the incident will emerge only after the NIA's findings.
The explosion, which occurred early Thursday near a police station in Nalagarh, startled local residents from their sleep. Fortunately, there were no casualties reported. The blast was so powerful that it shattered windows of nearby buildings, including one located 40 meters away at a military canteen.
Residents reported that the sound of the explosion could be heard from a distance of 400 to 500 meters. Babbar Khalsa International and the Punjab Sovereignty Alliance claimed responsibility for the blast in a social media post, although this has yet to be verified.
The post alleged that an IED was used in the explosion, which was purportedly a retaliation against police actions regarding the trafficking of 'synthetic drugs' produced in Himachal Pradesh into Punjab.
It further warned that if no action was taken in this matter, IEDs would be planted in police vehicles and headquarters. Authorities indicated that a case has been registered under sections 324(4) and 125 of the BNS, as well as the Explosive Substances Act at the Nalagarh police station.
