Suspicious Circumstances Surrounding Youth's Death

In Chamba district, authorities have detained a woman in relation to the mysterious death of a young man in Golti village, located within the Sarol Gram Panchayat. The victim, identified as Anil Kumar, hailed from Salvi village in Churah and had been residing with a woman in a rented accommodation.

Preliminary reports indicate that Ritu Kumari, the woman in question, lived in the rented space with her two children. She recounted to the police that Anil visited her room shortly before the incident, requested her to cook Maggi noodles, and asked her to put her six-year-old daughter to sleep in a separate room. Upon her return, she allegedly discovered Anil hanging from a noose. She claimed to have attempted to save him but was unable to loosen the tightly secured rope.

Law enforcement arrived at the scene after receiving the alert, took possession of the body, and initiated an investigation. Sources suggest that Anil Kumar and Ritu Kumari had been in a cohabiting relationship for approximately four years, a situation known to her estranged spouse.

SP Chamba, Vijay Kumar Saklani, confirmed the occurrence, stating that the body has been sent for a post-mortem examination and the woman is currently in custody. He added, “The investigation is being conducted from all perspectives. The precise cause of death will be determined following the post-mortem report and a thorough police inquiry.”
