Assault Incident Involving Rapper UNB

Itanagar/Roing, Sept 22: Authorities revisited the location where Ugen Namgyal Bhutia, known as UNB, was reportedly assaulted by unknown assailants in the Lower Dibang Valley of Arunachal Pradesh.

UNB and his crew were escorted by police to the site near Tiwari Gaon, where investigators collected evidence to help identify the perpetrators.

According to Roing Police Station Officer-in-Charge Taniya Uli, a First Information Report (FIR) has been filed, and nearby checkpoints have been alerted to monitor for vehicles matching the descriptions given by the victims.

The attack took place around 6 PM on Monday as UNB and his team were returning to Roing after performing at a festival in Anini, where he was the headliner on the first day, September 19.

Deep Dhar, UNB’s manager, reported that two vehicles with obscured license plates trailed their car for nearly an hour before obstructing their route in a remote area.

According to Dhar, a group of eight to ten men recognized UNB inside the vehicle before allegedly assaulting him and his manager with metal rods, while the other team members were unharmed.

Officials stated that UNB suffered injuries to his head and face, along with swelling around his eyes. He has since received medical attention and is reported to be in stable condition with minor injuries.

Local media indicated that the attackers caused significant damage to the vehicle during the incident. Dhar mentioned that the assailants fled when a truck approached the scene.

Authorities were notified around 7:50 PM on Monday, with the delay in reporting attributed to severe mobile network disruptions in the region.

The investigation faces challenges due to the absence of direct witnesses and ongoing connectivity issues in the remote area. Efforts are continuing to identify the attackers and understand the motive behind the assault.
