Investigation into Donation Misappropriation

During the investigation into alleged misappropriation of donations at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, officials discovered that there were 70 attempted thefts recorded between April 27 and June 5. They noted that CCTV footage captured a man named Manish Kumar Yadav attempting theft multiple times, yet no action was taken against him. Sources indicate that the Special Investigating Team (SIT) examining the case also identified significant flaws in the handling of donation counts. The team reviewed internal audit reports for the financial years 2022-23, 2023-24, and 2024-25, revealing numerous procedural deficiencies.


Weak Record Keeping and Accountability Issues

The SIT further found that records were not maintained properly and the internal control system was deemed 'very weak.' Additionally, sources reported a lack of clarity regarding accountability at the supervisory level.


Arrests Made and More Expected

Eight Arrests So Far, More Could Follow

To date, eight individuals have been arrested, including Ramashankar Yadav, also known as Tinnu Yadav, a close associate of Champat Rai. Other arrested individuals include Anukalp Mishra, Avinash Shukla, Karunesh Pandey, Lav Kush Mishra, Rama Shankar Mishra, and Subhash Srivastava. Sources suggest that further arrests may occur based on SIT recommendations.

Yogi Adityanath Vows Firm Action

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath pledged strict action in this matter, stating on Friday that those responsible will not be spared. Speaking at an event in Deoria, he accused opposition parties, including the Samajwadi Party and Congress, of politicizing the issue, asserting that it is unacceptable to play with public sentiments. Adityanath emphasized that Ayodhya symbolizes the faith of all and the Sanatan Dharma, urging that no ill intentions should be directed towards it. He reiterated that an SIT has been formed and that action will commence upon receiving its report. The Chief Minister assured, "The SIT report has arrived, and immediate action has begun. I assure you that, as I stated, we will distinguish truth from falsehood."
