Significant Developments in Air India Crash Investigation

Investigators have successfully retrieved the cockpit voice recorder (CVR) from the Air India aircraft involved in last week's tragic accident, marking a crucial step in uncovering the causes of the incident. The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, which was en route to London, crashed shortly after taking off from Ahmedabad, a city in western India. The disaster resulted in the loss of at least 270 lives, predominantly passengers.

Four days after the catastrophic event, authorities have identified 87 victims through DNA matching, with 47 bodies already returned to their families. This information was disclosed by officials on Monday.

To identify the deceased, DNA testing is being conducted, as many victims were so severely burned in the June 12 crash that their bodies were unrecognizable. Additional Civil Superintendent Dr. Rajneesh Patel informed reporters, 'So far, 87 DNA samples have been matched, and 47 bodies have been handed over to their families.'

The deceased hailed from various regions of Gujarat, including Bharuch, Anand, Junagadh, Bhavnagar, Vadodara, Kheda, Mehsana, Aravalli, and Ahmedabad.

The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner took off from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport at 1:39 PM last Thursday and crashed into the grounds of a medical college shortly thereafter. Among the 241 individuals on board, 241 lost their lives, while one passenger miraculously survived. Reports also indicate that 29 others perished in the incident, including five MBBS students.
