In a troubling incident from the Doiwala area of Dehradun district, Uttarakhand, police have initiated a case of dowry harassment against three individuals, including the husband of a teacher who died under suspicious circumstances just eight months after their marriage. This information was disclosed by the police on Thursday.

According to police reports, the case was filed based on a complaint from the mother of the deceased, Srishti Kandari. The complaint names her husband, Saurabh Khatri, along with her mother-in-law and sister-in-law, and is registered under Section 80(2) of the Indian Penal Code at the Doiwala police station.

The complaint alleges that Srishti faced both mental and physical abuse related to dowry demands and other issues since her marriage. It also claims that she was subjected to humiliation, being referred to as 'unlucky.' Furthermore, Srishti's mother has accused the in-laws of her daughter's murder, stating that they did not inform her family about Srishti's death, which occurred on July 29.

Police confirmed that Srishti Kandari was employed as a teacher at a school in the Tehri district and had married in November of the previous year. An investigation into the matter has been launched.
