The authorities have initiated a formal investigation into the tragic death of Pallavi, a student from Dharamshala. As per a statement released by the Inspector General of Police for the North Range, an FIR was filed at the Dharamshala Police Station on January 1, 2026. The case is being examined under several provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita 2023 and the Himachal Pradesh Educational Institutions (Prohibition of Ragging) Act, 2009.
The complaint was submitted by Pallavi’s father, Vikram Kumar, who claims that his daughter faced ragging, physical abuse, and sexual harassment. The allegations extend to inappropriate conduct by both fellow students and a faculty member.
According to police reports, Pallavi's condition worsened after these incidents, leading her to seek treatment at various hospitals. Unfortunately, she passed away on December 26, 2025, while receiving care at DMC Ludhiana.
The investigation is currently under the supervision of the Deputy Superintendent of Police in Dharamshala. A police team has traveled to Ludhiana to gather medical records and interview medical professionals. Officials have confirmed that the investigation is still in progress.
