Investigation Launched into Irregularities at Chintpurni Temple's Easy Access System

A three-member inquiry committee has been established to investigate irregularities in the 'Sugam Darshan' system at the renowned Chintpurni Temple located in Una district. Officials announced this development on Friday.
Purpose of the Sugam Darshan System
Launched on August 8, 2023, the 'Sugam Darshan' initiative is a paid service aimed at providing quick and easy access for devotees visiting the temple. This system includes special service fees, group arrangements, and travel assistance.
Discovery of Irregularities
Following a complaint aimed at ensuring transparency, the police registered a case on July 19, which led to the uncovering of these irregularities. The investigation revealed that only 23 applications were submitted on that day, while the system showed 88 recorded applications. There are concerns that unauthorized use of a 'login ID' and password may have resulted in these additional entries.
Actions Taken by the Temple Trust
In response to the findings, the temple trust has formed a three-member committee chaired by the additional deputy commissioner of Una to investigate the matter. A new team has been appointed to replace the previous staff managing the 'Sugam Darshan' system. The committee has been tasked with verifying the facts, establishing accountability, and submitting its report within seven days with necessary recommendations.
Financial Aspects of the Sugam Darshan System
Paras Agarwal, the assistant commissioner of the Mata Chintpurni Temple Trust and the SDM of Amb, stated in a press release that measures are being implemented to enhance technical security and transparency within the 'Sugam Darshan' system. Since its inception in August 2023, over ₹12 crore has been collected in service fees, which is being utilized for the development of facilities for devotees and public welfare initiatives. The trust clarified that the fee for the 'Sugam Darshan' pass is not a donation or offering to the temple but a designated service charge for the provided facilities, with separate accounts maintained for temple offerings.
