Pune Police Investigate Gun License Acquisition

Authorities in Pune have initiated an investigation to determine how a suspected member of a gang led by fugitive gangster Nilesh Ghaiwal obtained a gun license and subsequently used it to purchase 400 rounds of ammunition from a local factory in Khadki. An official provided this information.

The police recently apprehended Ajay Sarwade, an associate of the gangster, in connection with an incident that occurred a few months ago in the Kothrud area of Pune, where alleged members of Ghaiwal's gang shot a man. Ghaiwal is believed to have fled the country and is suspected to be in the United Kingdom.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 3) Sambhaji Kadam stated, 'Sarwade was arrested in Karnataka along with another associate of Ghaiwal. During a search of Sarwade's residence in Kothrud, 400 cartridges (both used and unused) were recovered.' Kadam also revealed that Sarwade had obtained his gun license using forged residency documents. The police are continuing their investigation into the matter.
