Investigation Launched into Bengaluru Stampede During RCB Celebration
Commission Established to Investigate Stampede
On Thursday, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced the formation of a one-member commission to investigate the tragic stampede that occurred during the Royal Challengers Bengaluru's IPL victory celebration in Bengaluru. He also took immediate action by suspending several high-ranking police officials.
Siddaramaiah stated, "We have appointed a one-man commission under the leadership of Justice Michael D'Cunha, a retired High Court judge. We have decided to arrest the event manager DNA and representatives from the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA)."
Immediate Police Suspensions
The Chief Minister further elaborated that the police personnel suspended include the Inspector of Cubbon Park Police Station, the Station House Master, the Station House Officer, the Assistant Commissioner of Police, the Deputy Commissioner of Police for the Central Division, the in-charge of the Cricket Stadium, the Additional Commissioner of Police, and the Commissioner of Police.
FIR Filed Against RCB and Event Management
Prior to these developments, the Bengaluru Police had registered a First Information Report (FIR) against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, the event management company DNA, the KSCA Administrative Committee, and others at the Cubbon Park Police Station.
RCB Offers Financial Support
In response to the tragic incident that unfolded during the IPL celebrations, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru franchise has announced a financial contribution of ₹10 lakh to each of the families of the eleven victims who lost their lives.
The stampede, which occurred amidst a large gathering of fans, resulted in the unfortunate deaths of eleven individuals and left many others injured. RCB expressed its sorrow in an official statement, emphasizing their commitment to support the affected families.

The chaos erupted near the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Wednesday as thousands of fans gathered to celebrate RCB's IPL victory. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah confirmed that eleven people died and thirty-three others sustained injuries during the incident.
