Investigation Launched into Alleged Harassment Incident at Mandar Hill, Bihar

Patna, Sep 25: In light of recent similar incidents in Jamui and Samastipur districts, a disturbing video has emerged on social media, allegedly depicting the harassment of a girl at the historic Mandar Hill in Banka district. This has led local authorities to initiate an investigation.
The video has been circulating online for approximately two days.
In response to the situation, the Bounsi police have filed a First Information Report (FIR) against six to seven unidentified individuals and have begun legal proceedings.
According to police reports, the video was shared via WhatsApp and was brought to the attention of the social media cell.
Following instructions from senior officials, Bounsi Station House Officer Pankaj Kumar Jha and his team visited Mandar Hill to verify the location depicted in the video.
Initial investigations by the police have confirmed that the footage was indeed recorded at Mandar Hill.
However, officials suspect that the incident may not be recent, with indications suggesting it could have occurred in April of this year.
The video allegedly shows a group of six to seven unidentified youths engaging in inappropriate conduct towards a girl.
As of now, the police have not been able to identify the individuals featured in the video.
Investigators are currently interviewing local residents, including villagers and shopkeepers, to gather information that may help identify those involved and clarify the circumstances of the incident.
An FIR was filed at the Bounsi police station based on a written complaint from SHO Pankaj Kumar Jha.
The unidentified suspects have been charged under Sections 74, 75, 76, and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), as well as Sections 66E and 67A of the Information Technology Act.
The police have secured the video as evidence and are investigating its origins, the identities of those involved, and the context in which it was recorded and disseminated.
Further legal actions will be determined based on the investigation's outcomes.
Authorities have also urged the public not to share the video or any material that could reveal the identity of the girl involved.
