The situation has drawn political reactions, with the RSS expressing concern over the impact on devotees' faith, while the Congress party criticized the RSS's defense. Allegations of Irregularities at Badrinath Temple

Following the recent controversies surrounding the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, similar allegations of mismanagement regarding donations have emerged at the renowned Badrinath Temple in Uttarakhand. In response to these claims, which have gained traction on social media, the Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC) has initiated a high-level inquiry into the matter.

In a statement released on Saturday, Hemant Dwivedi, the president of BKTC, acknowledged the seriousness of the allegations circulating online and announced the formation of a special investigation committee to ensure a fair probe. The committee has requested written explanations from the staff involved.

Denial of Claims Regarding Personal Secretary

Dwivedi refuted claims on social media that linked an accused employee as his 'personal secretary.' He clarified that the individual in question is a regular government employee of BKTC.

Strict Action Against Wrongdoers

He emphasized that if the investigation substantiates the allegations, strict action will be taken against any guilty parties. Additionally, BKTC's CEO, Sohan Singh Rangad, stated that the investigation committee will compile its report based on available evidence, CCTV footage, and testimonies from relevant parties.

Legal Consequences for Irregularities

Rangad mentioned that should any irregularities be uncovered, legal and departmental actions will be pursued against those responsible under the Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Act of 1939 and employee conduct regulations. He urged the public to refrain from spreading unverified or misleading accusations until the investigation concludes.

SIT to Re-audit Ram Temple Trust Accounts

In light of opposition demands for a transparent audit of the Ram Temple's donations and allegations of misappropriation, sources revealed that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) will conduct a re-audit of the temple trust's accounts.

Political Reactions and Concerns

Amid ongoing criticism from opposition parties, senior BJP leader Vinay Katiyar stated that he has discussed the issue of donation mismanagement with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has expressed concern. Katiyar also mentioned that former secretary of the Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, Champat Rai, and other officials have so far avoided jail time but may face consequences in the future.

SIT's Detailed Investigation

The SIT is expected to conduct a thorough examination of the Ram Janmabhoomi Trust's financial records from the past five years, including scrutiny of construction-related expenses and donations of jewelry and other valuables.

RSS Responds to Allegations

In its first response to the alleged misappropriation of funds, the RSS stated that this incident has deeply hurt the faith of devotees and the community. RSS General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale expressed profound sadness and anger over the situation, urging the SIT to ensure that those responsible face severe penalties.

Political Backlash from Congress

The Congress party quickly reacted, labeling the RSS's defense as 'disgraceful and shameful,' accusing it of attempting to sanitize the situation. Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh referred to the RSS as a 'deceitful organization,' while Pawan Khera, the party's media chief, described it as a 'wolf in sheep's clothing.'
