Investigation Launched After Morphed Photos Sent to News Anchor's Email
Incident Reported by News Channel Anchor
A suspect, whose identity remains unknown, has been charged for allegedly sending altered images of a news channel anchor to her email on May 19. The anchor's legal representative lodged a formal complaint at the Sector 20 police station, according to police reports.
As reported by a local media outlet, the anchor detailed in her FIR that she received an email at approximately 2:42 PM on May 19, followed by two additional emails at 3:04 PM and 3:12 PM.
The FIR states, "The emails contained disturbing content, featuring manipulated images of our anchor's face superimposed onto nude and sexually explicit poses of another individual."
Authorities indicated that the suspect is not known to the anchor, and his actions appear to be aimed at degrading her dignity. A case has been registered under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for forgery and actions intended to insult a woman's modesty, along with sections 66, 67, and 67A of the IT Act. The cyber team is actively investigating the matter to identify the suspect, as stated by a police official.
