Final Stages of Investigation into Ram Temple Donations
Ayodhya (Uttar Pradesh), August 1 - A member of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust announced on Saturday that the inquiry into the alleged theft of donations at the Ram Temple is approaching its final stages. A newly formed investigation team is currently interviewing individuals within the temple premises. Mahant Dinendra Das, a trust member, stated that the probe into irregularities related to gold, silver, and other offerings made by devotees is nearing completion. This statement comes as the trust has intensified its efforts to enhance transparency in the donation collection and counting process amid the ongoing investigation.
Response to Controversial Incident in Parliament
In response to an incident in Parliament where a picture of Ram Lalla was reportedly placed on the ground, Mahant Dinendra Das expressed strong disapproval, labeling it an affront to religious sentiments. He urged parliamentarians to respect the faith and image of Lord Ram. Das also reassured that worship and darshan at the Ram Temple are proceeding smoothly, with daily rituals and ceremonies conducted in accordance with Vaishnav traditions.
Enhanced Monitoring of Donation Handling Process
Previously, Das mentioned that since July 25, every step of the donation handling process has been under continuous video surveillance, from the removal of empty boxes in the counting room to their transportation, filling, sealing, and return. An eight-member monitoring team has been deployed for this oversight, comprising bank staff, trust representatives, private security personnel, and other appointed employees. Instead of emptying nearly 40 donation boxes all at once, they are now being emptied on different days.
Implementation of Advanced Surveillance Measures
According to the trust, two professional videographers have been assigned to document the entire process, and cameras have been installed to monitor all areas. Additional CCTV cameras have been set up inside the counting room. Officials from the State Bank of India seal the donation-filled boxes upon entering the counting room.
Ongoing Investigation and Trust Restructuring
This increased surveillance was initiated following allegations of theft concerning temple donations, prompting an investigation by a Special Investigation Team (SIT). Several suspects have been arrested in connection with this case, and the inquiry is ongoing. The controversy has also led to changes within the temple trust, with senior officials, including former General Secretary Champat Rai, resigning following the revelations.
