Investigation into Ahmedabad Air India Crash Nears Completion, Minister Confirms
Investigation Update on Air India Plane Crash
On Wednesday, Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu announced that the investigation into the Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad is in its final stages, with the final report expected to be released soon. The minister expressed full confidence in the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB), stating that the agency is conducting the investigation with utmost professionalism and transparency. Naidu emphasized the importance of uncovering the complete truth regarding the cause of the crash associated with the Air India flight.
He assured that while it is crucial to release the report promptly, it is even more important to understand how and why the accident occurred. This announcement comes in response to the families of the victims, who have raised concerns about communication gaps and the impartiality of the ongoing investigation, presenting five demands.
The families have urged the ministry to ensure that the AAIB conducts an independent simulator validation test before releasing the final report and to provide regular updates every 15 or 30 days. They have also requested a clear timeline for the report's release and the inclusion of an experienced commercial pilot with expertise in Boeing 787 and accident investigations. Additionally, they insisted that families should not be pressured to sign any documents waiving their rights against other responsible parties.
In a letter, the families humbly requested intervention to ensure that the investigation into this tragic incident is fair, transparent, and completed as soon as possible. Currently, they are not receiving adequate updates regarding the investigation. They have requested that the AAIB establish a proper communication channel with the families and provide updates regularly. Furthermore, the AAIB should organize a meeting or conference where family members can ask questions and receive clear answers.
