Investigation Intensifies into Alleged Financial Irregularities at Ayodhya Ram Temple
Ongoing Investigation into Ram Temple Financial Disputes
The inquiry into alleged financial irregularities and donation-related controversies at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya has gained momentum. A special investigation team formed by the Uttar Pradesh government conducted interrogations today within the temple premises and with associated individuals. This issue has sparked extensive debate on both political and social fronts. While opposition parties label it a major scam, those connected to the trust dismiss the allegations as baseless.
Details of the Investigation
According to official sources, the special investigation team spent approximately seven to eight hours at the Ram Temple site on Monday and resumed their investigation at 10 AM on Tuesday. The inquiry continued throughout the day, involving questioning of over ten individuals linked to the Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, including senior officials like Gopal Rao. However, there has been no confirmation of any formal discussions between the SIT and the trust's general secretary, Champat Rai.
Key Figure in the Controversy
In the midst of this situation, Ram Shankar, also known as Tinnu Yadav, has emerged as a focal point of discussion. He is being portrayed as a central figure in the donation-related disputes across social media and political circles. The SIT has interrogated Tinnu Yadav along with six other service personnel. In a media interaction, Yadav refuted all allegations against him, asserting that he had no connection to the room where cash counting occurred, which was managed by others.
Background of Tinnu Yadav
There are various claims regarding Tinnu Yadav's background. It is said that he once drove tempos and autos in the streets of Ayodhya. His father operated a small tea shop at Naya Ghat. During 1994-95, he became acquainted with Mahesh Narayan, the minister of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mukti Yagya Committee, and subsequently became his driver. This connection led him to meet influential figures in Karsevakpuram and related organizations.
Allegations of Wealth Accumulation
Reports indicate that Tinnu Yadav met Champat Rai in 1998, and in subsequent years, he played an active role in the trust and Karsevakpuram activities. Following the acceleration of the Ram Temple construction process in 2019, he was incorporated as a salaried worker within the trust. Allegations have surfaced regarding an unusual increase in his wealth over recent years, with discussions surrounding properties, hostels, agricultural land, and stakes in various businesses in Ayodhya, Lucknow, and Basti districts. However, these claims have not been officially verified, and his wife has labeled the accusations as unfounded.
Political Reactions
The situation has also taken on a political dimension. Akhilesh Yadav, the national president of the Samajwadi Party, has described the entire affair as a 'great sin and a major scam,' calling for a thorough investigation. He stated that what began as a donation issue has now escalated to involve land and valuable Shri Ram stones. Yadav suggested that there might be an 'anti-Sanatana' group behind this and emphasized the need for an in-depth probe. BJP leader Brijbhushan Sharan Singh has also provided his latest comments on the matter.
Formation of the Special Investigation Team
It is noteworthy that the Uttar Pradesh government established a three-member special investigation team on June 13 at the request of the trust. The government stated that the trust sought a fair investigation into the facts and aimed to uncover attempts to tarnish the image of the Ram Temple. The SIT comprises Lucknow Divisional Commissioner Vijay Vishwas Pant, Inspector General of Police Kiran S, and Special Secretary of the Finance Department Neel Ratan. All eyes are now on this investigation to uncover the truth behind this highly publicized controversy surrounding the Ram Temple.
