Investigation Progress in Ayodhya Ram Temple Case

The investigation into the alleged misappropriation of donations at the grand Ram Temple in Ayodhya has gained momentum. The Special Investigation Team (SIT), which is probing this high-profile scandal, conducted an extensive three-hour interrogation of Champat Rai, the former general secretary of the Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, and recorded his official statement. Sources indicate that during the questioning, investigators posed several pointed questions to Rai regarding administrative decisions, donation management, and appointments, many of which he struggled to answer.

Details from Champat Rai's Interrogation

According to sources, the police will now compare Rai's statements with those of other witnesses, documents, and facts that emerged during the investigation. Following the SIT's preliminary report, the police have initiated further actions. It is anticipated that the SIT will arrive in Ayodhya in the first week of July to conclude their investigation and submit a final report to the government.

Champat Rai's Defense

During the interrogation, Champat Rai asserted that he had no involvement in the donation misappropriation case. He claimed that upon learning about the issue, he acted promptly by identifying suspects and filing an FIR with the police. Rai stated, "I personally filed a complaint with the SIT, and based on that, the case was registered. Yes, it was my mistake to delay reporting to the police while conducting an internal investigation."

Concerns Regarding Tinnu Yadav

Rai acknowledged that it was his responsibility to ensure that no irregularities occurred within the donation system. When questioned about Tinnu Yadav, he mentioned that Yadav had been associated with the temple management for a long time and expressed surprise at his alleged misconduct. The police also inquired about the basis for assigning work related to the Ram Temple to relatives or acquaintances. Rai responded that such work was allocated to needy and impoverished individuals, emphasizing that these appointments involved not just him but other trust members as well.

Police Investigating Financial Details of Trust Members

Reports suggest that the police are gathering financial information about several trust members, including Champat Rai, Gopal Rai, and Anil Mishra. Investigators are reportedly examining their bank accounts and assets, believing that Champat Rai has not demonstrated effective administrative skills and has acted negligently.

Future Interrogations Planned

Sources indicate that the Ayodhya police have filed a request to interrogate some accused individuals currently in jail, but the court has yet to grant permission. Once approval is obtained, the police may soon question all eight accused, including Tinnu Yadav, Avinash Shukla, and Lavkush, in jail.
