Investigation Deepens in Mysterious Death of 17-Year-Old Student in Khetri

Sonapur, Sept 7: The inquiry into the puzzling death of a 17-year-old student from Khetri took a significant turn on Monday with the discovery of two notes in the victim's clothing, one of which is suspected to be a suicide note.

However, the legitimacy of the handwriting on these notes has been challenged by the student's father and his teachers, who are advocating for a forensic analysis before any conclusions are made.

The deceased, identified as Gandhiv Lahon Sarma, was found lifeless in his father's quarters located at the Khetri State Dispensary on Sunday.

Reports indicate that his hands and feet were allegedly bound, and a rope was discovered around his neck, secured to a window grille.

A local resident mentioned that during a search of the teenager's belongings, a piece of paper was found and subsequently handed over to the authorities.

“I searched his clothes and found a piece of paper. I informed his mother, and the police took the paper. I don't know what was written on it,” the resident stated.

Gandhiv's father, Manoj Sharma, expressed skepticism regarding the handwriting in the notes and has called for a comprehensive forensic examination as part of the investigation.

“I have no conflicts with anyone, so I am unsure whom to suspect. The handwriting in the notes does not appear to be his. The forensic team has collected the materials for examination,” he remarked.

Teachers familiar with Gandhiv described him as a diligent and well-behaved student who had been excelling in his studies.

Some educators noted discrepancies between the handwriting in the note and samples of his known writing, emphasizing that no definitive conclusions could be reached without forensic confirmation.

“Only a forensic examination can verify whether the handwriting corresponds,” a teacher stated, urging for a thorough investigation into the circumstances of the young man's death.

At the time of the incident, Gandhiv's parents and younger brother were in Jagiroad to enroll the younger sibling in a music school, leaving Gandhiv at home as he was preparing for an examination scheduled for Monday.

His father, who works as a hospital pharmacist, has alleged that his son's death was a homicide.

“His hands were tied behind his back, and his feet were bound. There were marks from the rope on his neck. The rope was one I had kept for use. This is undoubtedly a murder. I want to uncover the truth behind this incident,” he asserted.

Authorities are currently investigating the scene and reviewing available evidence to piece together the timeline of events. A forensic team has also visited the location, and the notes along with other evidence are expected to be integral to the ongoing investigation.
