Interstate Criminal Gang Busted in Jharkhand: 11 Arrested

Major Arrests in Gumla District

Gumla (Jharkhand), August 9 - Authorities in Gumla district apprehended 11 members of an interstate criminal gang involved in theft and robbery incidents on Sunday. A police official confirmed the arrests.

According to Superintendent of Police Harris Bin Jaman, most of the suspects hail from Odisha and were implicated in two significant gold robbery cases that recently occurred in the Palakot and Ghaghra regions of Gumla. The Superintendent stated, “These arrests were made based on intelligence regarding a group allegedly plotting a criminal act near the Bilung-Bira road in Palakot. An SIT was formed under the leadership of the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Basia.”

The police initially detained seven individuals, seizing weapons, cash, mobile phones, and other items from them. During the interrogation, they provided information that led to the capture of four additional suspects. The police reported that nine of those arrested were from Odisha, while the remaining two were from Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh. The official noted, “The arrested individuals are believed to be part of the ‘Korai Gang,’ which operates across state borders and is involved in theft, robbery, and dacoity.”
