International Yoga Day 2025 Highlights

International Yoga Day 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi spearheaded this year's International Yoga Day celebrations from Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. The main event spanned 26 kilometers from Ramakrishna Beach to Bhogapuram, attracting nearly 300,000 participants for a mass yoga session. The 11th International Yoga Day was celebrated on June 21 under the theme "Yoga for One Earth, One Health." Since 2015, this day has been observed globally following a resolution adopted by the United Nations.


During the event, PM Modi emphasized that yoga conveys a message of unity, transcending borders, backgrounds, ages, or abilities. He noted that when India proposed June 21 as International Yoga Day at the UN, it was embraced by 175 countries in a short span.


He remarked that after 11 years, yoga has become an integral part of millions of lives worldwide. He stated, "Whether it’s the Sydney Opera House, Mount Everest, or the ocean, the message is clear: yoga is for everyone." The Prime Minister acknowledged the global stress many face and urged that this Yoga Day symbolize the beginning of Yoga 2.0 for humanity, where inner peace becomes a global priority.


He reiterated that yoga is a personal discipline that fosters a shift from 'I' to 'we.' Following his address, the Prime Minister participated in yoga alongside the attendees. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu also addressed the gathering, praising Modi for popularizing yoga not just in India but across the globe, transforming it into a movement for global well-being.


Naidu highlighted that Yoga Day is being celebrated in over 175 countries at 1.2 million locations, with participation exceeding 100 million people. He expressed gratitude to PM Modi for making yoga a global phenomenon through the establishment of International Yoga Day via the United Nations.
