Global Delegates Arrive to Observe Elections

New Delhi: A total of 43 delegates representing 23 nations, including officials from five foreign missions, are set to visit Assam, Kerala, and Puducherry to closely observe the assembly elections.

This initiative is part of the International Election Visitors’ Programme-2026, as announced by the Election Commission on Tuesday.

During the first phase, these delegates will explore the electoral process in Assam, Kerala, and Puducherry from April 8 to 9. The second phase will see them visiting West Bengal and Tamil Nadu starting April 20.

On Tuesday, the delegates participated in a demonstration of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) at the India International Institute of Democracy and Election Management (IIIDEM), the training wing of the poll panel. They engaged in a mock election to gain practical experience with the voting system.

The Election Commission regularly invites representatives from international electoral management organizations to observe both Lok Sabha and state elections.
