Intensive Search Underway After Man Jumps into Ravi River Near Chamba

A resident of Chanokhadi village, located near the Kariya Panchayat close to Chamba, reportedly leaped off the Bhadiya Bridge into the Ravi River early on Wednesday morning. The incident took place around 6:00 AM and was swiftly communicated by local villagers, which led to the mobilization of police and Home Guard rescue teams to commence a search operation.

Search Efforts

Rescue teams arrived promptly and conducted an extensive search for two hours in the vicinity of the river. However, the heavy rainfall has caused the water to become muddy and fast-flowing, significantly reducing visibility and complicating the search efforts. The rescue teams have now redirected their focus to potential areas along the riverbank where the individual’s body might be lodged.

Investigation and Ongoing Efforts

Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances that led to this drastic action. Officials from the Home Guard reported that they received the alert early in the morning and acted quickly. Despite concentrated search efforts near the bridge, the individual has not yet been located. Authorities have confirmed that the search will persist across all reachable sections of the Ravi River.
