Protests Erupt Over NEET Paper Leak

The controversy surrounding the NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) paper leak has escalated tensions between the central government and opposition parties. Senior Congress leader and MP Shashi Tharoor visited students protesting at Jantar Mantar, where he strongly criticized the government's actions. He condemned the police's use of force against student demonstrators and the incident where opposition leader Rahul Gandhi was forcibly detained outside the Prime Minister's residence during the protests.

Tharoor emphasized that the government cannot evade accountability under the guise of police brutality. During his visit to Jantar Mantar, where numerous students were voicing their concerns over the NEET paper leak, he engaged with several protesters and expressed his solidarity with them.

In a statement to a news media outlet, Tharoor remarked, "The forcible removal of the opposition leader and the detention of other MPs is an incident that has shaken the hearts and souls of everyone in our country." He added, "I wanted to show solidarity with the protesting students, which is why I came to meet them. I believe that protesting is a democratic right. This is a peaceful protest, and no one is attempting to act against the law. Therefore, I fail to understand why the government is responding with such insensitivity."

Students and youth organizations across the nation have taken to the streets in response to the alleged irregularities and paper leak in the NEET-UG examination. The opposition is actively raising this issue both in Parliament and on the streets. Tharoor's visit to the students at Jantar Mantar signifies that the Congress party is not backing down on this matter, and pressure on the government is steadily increasing.
