Intensifying Conflict: Iran Claims Downing of US Aircraft
Escalation of Hostilities
Tehran. In the ongoing conflict between Iran and the United States, recent reports indicate that the US has suffered significant losses. Iran asserts that it has successfully shot down two American planes and two helicopters.
The warfare between Iran and the US appears to be escalating rapidly. Iran has consistently claimed responsibility for downing US aircraft, and on Sunday, it released evidence purportedly showing the destruction of these planes. Iranian news agencies have circulated images and videos of the wreckage.
Targeting During Rescue Operations
Iran claims that during a military mission in Isfahan, it downed two Black Hawk helicopters and two C-130 transport aircraft. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has shared images and videos to support its claims. According to the IRGC, this operation took place in the southern region of Isfahan, where they allege that the US military was conducting a rescue operation for downed pilots when their aircraft were targeted.
Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf Shares Images
Previously, Iranian media had reported the downing of one aircraft, but the IRGC now claims to have destroyed four. Additionally, Iran's parliamentary speaker, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, has posted images on social media showing the alleged wreckage of the US aircraft, which appears scattered across the area.
Earlier reports indicated that a mission sent to locate a missing American pilot was targeted. Iran has previously claimed to have downed US aircraft such as the F-15 and A-10. As of now, the US has not provided any official response to these latest claims or the images released.
US Destroyed Its Own Aircraft
Contrary to Iran's assertions, a report from a major news outlet states that two transport planes sent to rescue a downed American airman and commando became stranded. Consequently, the US had to dispatch three new aircraft. The report further mentions that the US military later destroyed the stranded transport planes to prevent their technology from falling into Iranian hands.
Additionally, Iran's military claims to have shot down two MQ-9 Reaper drones and an Israeli Hermes-900 drone in Isfahan province. Iranian officials state that several foreign aircraft have been destroyed in their airspace over the past 24 hours.
How the US Conducted a Rescue Operation for Another Crew Member
In a bid to rescue a crew member of an F-15E stranded in Iran, identified as a weapons systems officer, the CIA initiated a deceptive campaign. This involved spreading misinformation through the internet, intelligence sources, and humanitarian aid, suggesting that US forces had already located the missing airman and were in the process of exfiltrating him via ground routes.
This strategy aimed to create confusion among Iranian forces, diverting their attention from the actual area where the US military was searching for its airman, thereby facilitating the rescue operation.
