Intensifying Conflict: IDF Strikes Iranian Targets Following Khamenei's Death

IDF Airstrikes Target Iranian Regime Headquarters

On March 1, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) released footage showcasing an airstrike aimed at what they termed a 'headquarters of the Iranian terror regime' located in Tehran. This action followed a coordinated assault with the United States that resulted in the death of Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei. The video depicted the destruction of two buildings in the Iranian capital as part of a broader military campaign targeting key sites associated with the Iranian regime.

This military action occurred shortly after Iran vowed to retaliate for Khamenei's assassination, launching a barrage of missiles aimed at various U.S. bases throughout the Middle East. Reports indicated that several missiles impacted locations in the Gulf, including Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Qatar, and Bahrain. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced via Telegram that they were preparing for what they termed the 'most ferocious offensive operation' in Iran's history, targeting 'occupied territories and American terrorist bases' as a response to Khamenei's death.

The escalation in hostilities follows a series of coordinated airstrikes by the U.S. and Israel, which were prompted by stalled nuclear negotiations and allegations that Iran had resumed its nuclear program. Dubbed 'Operation Epic Fury,' these strikes affected multiple Iranian cities, including Tehran. Iranian sources reported that Khamenei was killed at his residence, alongside family members, including his daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughter. Additionally, it was reported that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had seen images of Khamenei's body.
