JORABAT, April 6: As the polling date approaches, the 34-Dimoria Legislative Assembly Constituency has seen a significant uptick in campaign activities, with senior leaders from the NDA actively promoting AGP candidate Dr. Tapan Das.
Numerous high-profile events took place throughout the day, emphasizing the ruling alliance's commitment to this newly established constituency reserved for Scheduled Castes (SC) during its first electoral challenge following delimitation.
Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, JP Nadda, spoke at a public gathering in Patharkuwari playground, where he underscored the NDA government's dedication to development, peace, and stability in Assam. He noted the enthusiastic public response as a testament to the trust in the alliance's governance, expressing optimism that voters would support the NDA to maintain the development momentum initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Earlier, Minister Pijush Hazarika addressed a well-attended ‘Vijay Sankalp Sabha’ in Durung, Sonapur, where he highlighted the NDA government's achievements over the last decade. He asserted that the government has fulfilled its commitments 'in letter and spirit,' pointing to advancements in road infrastructure, welfare initiatives, and job creation.
Hazarika emphasized welfare programs like the Orunodoi scheme, which has benefited numerous families, promising enhanced financial support if the NDA is re-elected. He also discussed plans to bolster assistance for women entrepreneurs and reiterated commitments to transparent recruitment processes.
In a critique of the Congress party, he claimed that previous administrations failed to meet their promises and were plagued by irregularities in job appointments. On infrastructure, he noted significant progress in embankment construction statewide, assuring that remaining projects would be completed promptly, with a focus on pending work in Dimoria.
Later, BJP Assam Pradesh president Dilip Saikia addressed a ‘Vijay Sankalp Sabha’ in Khetri, asserting that Dr. Tapan Das embodies the people's aspirations and expressing confidence in a strong electoral mandate for him. He criticized the Congress for its historical governance, alleging neglect of indigenous interests, while affirming the NDA's commitment to their protection and development.
Dr. Tapan Das, who has been actively campaigning throughout the constituency, expressed appreciation for the support from senior leaders and the public, stating that the positive response indicates growing confidence in the NDA alliance.
With numerous rallies conducted throughout the day and top leaders sharing the campaign platform at various locations, Dimoria has become a crucial electoral battleground as the campaign intensifies ahead of the elections.
