Intense Standoff in Jammu and Kashmir: Security Forces Engage with Terrorists


Jammu: A confrontation erupted in the Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday after security personnel made contact with three suspected terrorists, according to officials.


The Udhampur police reported on X that during a search operation involving police and security forces, they established contact with the terrorists in the Jopher village, located within the Ramnagar police station jurisdiction.


Authorities indicated that two to three terrorists are currently cornered in the area.


They further noted that gunfire is ongoing as the situation develops.


For the past 17 days, police and security forces have been monitoring the movement of terrorists across various locations, following three previous encounters that began on March 24 in the Sanyial region of Kathua district.


This operation has already resulted in the deaths of two terrorists and four police officers during an encounter on March 27.
