Political Strategies Intensify Before Key Voting

As Jharkhand prepares for crucial voting for two Rajya Sabha seats, both the NDA and the INDIA alliance are actively working to prevent any poaching of their legislators. The voting is scheduled for Thursday, June 18. The JMM has nominated Baidyanath Ram, while the Congress has put forward Pranav Jha for the elections. The NDA is backing independent candidate Parimal Nathwani.

Nathwani is currently staying at a hotel in Ranchi. On Tuesday afternoon, the NDA began relocating its legislators to the hotel, with sources indicating that rooms have been booked for all members. Some legislators moved on Tuesday, while the remainder are expected to shift on Wednesday morning. The NDA has organized a special training session for its legislators on how to cast their votes during the election. The BJP has 21 legislators, with its allies JDU, AJSU, and LJP (RV) each contributing one, totaling 24 members, which is four short of the 28 needed to secure a Rajya Sabha seat.

In contrast, the JMM holds 34 seats, the Congress has 16, the RJD has four, and the CPI (M) has two, bringing the total to 56 legislators, which meets the requirement for winning both seats. The BJP is confident about Nathwani's victory. Pradeep Sinha, spokesperson for Jharkhand BJP, stated that all NDA legislators are united. Regarding the additional four votes, some legislators from the INDIA alliance are expected to support them based on their previous work as Rajya Sabha members. We are optimistic about Nathwani's success.

On Tuesday, legislators from the INDIA alliance gathered at Chief Minister Hemant Soren's residence for a dinner meeting to strategize for the elections. The meeting included Chief Minister Soren, all alliance legislators, and Rajya Sabha candidates Baidyanath Ram and Pranav Jha. On Monday, Jha met with RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav in Patna to seek support for the Rajya Sabha seat from his party.
