Emphasizing Traditional Medicine in Health Policies
New Delhi, July 4: Dr. Kashinath Samagandi, the Director of the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga under the Ministry of Ayush, stated that achieving global objectives like Universal Health Coverage (UHC) necessitates the incorporation of traditional medicine into national health strategies and wellness services.
During the third conference focused on beauty, wellness, and traditional medicine, organized by a prominent industry association, Samagandi emphasized that India's future in holistic health hinges on the integration of traditional practices with contemporary health policies.
He remarked, ''Holistic health is a fundamental right, and to genuinely attain it, India must embed traditional systems within its healthcare framework.''
The conference gathered significant industry and policy stakeholders to discuss the overarching theme.
Dr. Blossom Kochhar, co-chair of the National Wellness Council, highlighted that beauty and wellness extend beyond mere aesthetics; they embody balance, harmony, and inner health. She noted, ''By harmonizing nature, science, and self-care, we not only improve our appearance but also enhance our overall well-being and quality of life.''
Suresh Garg, CMD of Zeon Lifesciences, added that collaboration among industry, academia, and government is crucial for ensuring safe, high-quality solutions that foster trust and promote global leadership, positively impacting millions of lives worldwide.
Experts at the conference also stressed the importance of standardizing beauty and cosmetic products to safeguard consumer health and enhance market credibility.
Vikas Tiwari, Lead of Regulatory Affairs at Reliance Retail, stated, ''By complying with regulatory standards established by organizations like CDSCO and BIS, the industry not only safeguards public health but also empowers Indian brands to compete effectively both domestically and internationally.''
Discussions at the conference revolved around the vast potential of India's beauty and wellness heritage to spearhead a global transition towards holistic wellness.
