During an inspiring session held at the Government Senior Secondary School in Jassur, Kangra’s Nurpur, DSP and Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Chandra Pal Singh motivated students by providing practical advice on achieving academic success and personal discipline as part of the Udaan career counselling initiative.
This program, organized in collaboration with Aarni University-Kangra, aims to enhance career awareness, study techniques, and essential life skills for students in remote and semi-urban areas of Himachal Pradesh.
Chandra Pal Singh praised the collaborative effort between Aarni University and the initiative, encouraging students to begin their future preparations as early as Class 9. He shared his 'six-step success formula,' highlighting the significance of structured study habits and consistent self-discipline. He recommended creating a timetable, stepping outside their comfort zones, taking initiative, waking up at 6 am, and adhering to a night routine that concludes by 11 pm, maintaining this schedule for at least a week.
Emphasizing a balanced perspective on competition, he advised students to concentrate on self-improvement rather than comparisons with peers. “Identify areas for improvement, learn from others, but let envy not dictate your actions,” he stated. He also outlined essential principles for effective learning: honesty, persistently seeking clarification from teachers, and prioritizing preparation for significant exams.
Chandra Pal Singh highlighted the importance of subjects like history for understanding past mistakes and deriving life lessons, urging students to critically evaluate the relevance of information for future use. He cautioned against excessive phone usage, noting that while technology was beneficial during the pandemic, over-reliance can detract from focus and productivity.
The event commenced with a ceremonial welcome for the chief guest, who was presented with a shawl and cap. Sunil Chadha, Executive Editor, introduced the initiative, while a counsellor from Aarni University provided further career insights. The school principal expressed gratitude to the organizers and guest speakers for their invaluable contributions.
Students actively participated by engaging with the speakers, posing questions about study methods, career planning, and goal setting. Teachers and organizers described the session as highly motivating, underscoring the significance of structured guidance and real-life role models in shaping students’ aspirations.
The Udaan initiative continues to empower students throughout Himachal Pradesh, assisting them in bridging the gap between ambition and opportunity while instilling the discipline, focus, and life skills essential for future success.
