She recounted a time 25 years ago when farmers in the Konkan region faced despair due to unsold crops like tomatoes, leading to a wave of suicides. Her husband, Jimmy Magilligan, developed the first solar dryer, significantly increasing farmers' incomes. He was later honored with the 'Order of the British Empire' by Queen Elizabeth II for his contributions to alternative energy in rural communities.

Modern Agriculture and Environmental Conservation

Retired botanist Dr. Jayshree Sikka discussed innovations in agriculture and stressed the importance of adopting sustainable practices. She encouraged farmers to embrace modern technologies that not only boost productivity but also protect environmental resources.

Both speakers provided practical guidance on enhancing farmers' incomes through solar food processing, solar dryer innovations, eco-friendly farming, and value addition.

Successful Workshop Outcomes

Participants gained practical knowledge and actionable insights during the workshop. Raheja Solar Food Processing is committed to continuing initiatives that promote solar-based solutions and sustainable agriculture, fostering a robust agricultural ecosystem.

Special guests Dr. Samyak Jain, Mr. Kirti Kumar Sikka, and commercial pilot Ahan Sikka also praised the event.
