Successful Flight Test of Electric Helicopter Prototype

In Pithoragarh, on August 7, a 32-year-old inventor named Ravi Tamta from the Kaflukhana area of Almora, Uttarakhand, achieved a significant milestone by successfully testing a prototype of a one-seat electric helicopter in his workshop. Witnesses present in Almora reported that the locally developed helicopter, named 'Hepida SkyNex', flew for one minute before landing safely at a nearby helipad. Eyewitness Shekhar Dwivedi noted that the helicopter, equipped with four rotor blades and a single seat in the center, was flown successfully in front of a gathered crowd for a full minute.

According to Shekhar, Tamta had previously flown a locally assembled helicopter back in 2014. Later, while addressing journalists at the scene, Tamta expressed that his electric helicopter could be utilized for traffic control on highways. He also mentioned his intention to patent the device if granted permission by the government.

Discussing the capabilities of his helicopter, Tamta stated that with approval from the DGCA, he could travel from Almora city to his village Kaflukhana, located 40 kilometers away, in just 40 minutes. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami congratulated Ravi Tamta on the successful flight test of his prototype and wished him well for the future. He remarked that this achievement demonstrates the abundant talent, innovation, and scientific thinking among the youth of our country.

In a social media post, Dhami stated, “Your innovative effort serves as an inspiration not only for Uttarakhand but for the youth across the nation. I believe you will continue to reach new heights in the fields of science and technology with your innovations.”
