Metro Train Launch in Indore

Indore, recognized as the economic hub of Madhya Pradesh, is gearing up for the launch of its metro train service. This initiative marks a significant advancement in public transportation. The first phase of the metro will cover a distance of six kilometers, with Prime Minister Modi set to inaugurate it virtually from Bhopal on May 31.


 


Following the inauguration, the metro will offer a special benefit to commuters. During the first week after the launch, passengers will have the opportunity to travel for free. The metro service will commence from the Gandhi Nagar station, with five initial stations constructed for this phase. Each train can accommodate up to 980 passengers at a time.


 


Initially, the metro will operate with four to five sets of trains, each consisting of three coaches. The trains will halt at each station for two minutes, taking approximately two to three minutes to travel between stations. The fare between two stations will start at 20 rupees, which is the minimum charge. All coaches are constructed from stainless steel, featuring a white and yellow color scheme. Notably, the front sections of the first and third coaches will function as engines. Trains will initially be operated by a loco pilot, transitioning to automatic operation in the future.


 


Reports indicate that a total of 75 coaches will be introduced in Indore, with 25 trains initially comprising three coaches each. The metro will run on four routes, including one that connects the airport to Gandhi Nagar, Radisson Chowk, Palasia, and Bengali, covering a distance of six kilometers.


Inside the coaches, seating arrangements will allow passengers to sit facing each other, with long benches accommodating over 45 passengers. Each coach will be equipped with automatic doors and mobile charging points for passenger convenience.
