IndiGo's Recovery and Strengthened Operations

On Thursday, Peter Elbers, the CEO of IndiGo, addressed employees, stating that the airline has emerged stronger after navigating a challenging period. He noted that with operational stability restored and a network of 2,200 flights reinstated, the worst is behind them. In an internal message to staff, Elbers commended employees across all departments for their unity during recent challenges.

Acknowledgment of Team Efforts

Elbers expressed gratitude to his colleagues, saying, "Dear IndiGo team, we are taking flight again after this storm. The toughest times are over. The past two weeks have been particularly challenging for all of us." He thanked pilots, cabin crew, airport staff, operational control, and customer service teams for their support. He highlighted the measures taken since December 9, which have stabilized operations and rapidly rebuilt capacity.

Strategic Focus Moving Forward

He mentioned that the airline has successfully restored its network to 2,200 flights. Given the scale and complexity of operations, recovering from such a situation in a short time is a testament to the strength of their team and operational principles. Outlining future strategies, Elbers stated that IndiGo will focus on three key priorities: resilience, root cause analysis, and rebuilding. Regarding resilience, he referred to the start of the IROP season, emphasizing the need to maintain operational stability and minimize external impacts on customers.

Commitment to Thorough Investigation

On the topic of root cause analysis, Elbers advised against speculation, stating that a comprehensive review is underway. He acknowledged that the issues observed seem to stem from a combination of factors. "Everyone is seeking answers, and various speculations are circulating, but I urge everyone to remain calm, focus on their professional responsibilities, and avoid engaging in such conjectures," he added. He also mentioned that an external aviation expert appointed by the board will conduct a full-scale root cause analysis.
