India's Women's Doubles Campaign Concludes

The women's doubles tennis team from India, featuring Ankita Raina and Rutuja Bhosale, faced elimination at the 2026 Asian Games after a defeat against Kazakhstan's Anna Danilina and Yuliya Putintseva on Monday.

In a tightly contested match, the Indian duo lost with scores of 7-5, 3-6, [5-10].

Raina and Bhosale started strong, winning the first set 7-5. However, the Kazakh players rallied back to take the second set 6-3 and ultimately triumphed in the decisive tiebreak 10-5.

Despite their initial success, the Indian pair struggled to maintain their lead against Putintseva, a seasoned player ranked in the Top 100 on the WTA Tour. The Kazakh team capitalized on this momentum to secure their victory.

This defeat marks the end of India's women's doubles campaign at the Asian Games, but Raina and Bhosale will continue to compete in the mixed doubles event.

Kurash and Cricket

In Kurash, Pincky Balhara achieved a 3-0 victory over Lim Garam in the women's 78kg quarterfinal, securing a medal. Meanwhile, the men's cricket team progressed to the semi-finals after their quarterfinal match against Afghanistan was canceled due to rain, allowing India to advance based on their higher seeding.

Archery

In the archery events, Chikitha Taniparthi and Jyothi Surekha Vennam both won their matches in the women's compound individual Round of 32. Ganesh Mani Ratnam Thirumuru and Sahil Jadhav also moved forward, but Ganesh narrowly defeated Sahil 149-148 in the Round of 16 to reach the quarterfinals.
