India's Women Cricketers Achieve 3-0 ODI Series Victory Over Zimbabwe
India Women Complete Dominant ODI Series Sweep
The Indian women's cricket team has successfully completed a clean sweep of the ODI series against Zimbabwe, winning all three matches. In the final game held at the BCA Stadium in Vadodara on Wednesday, India secured an impressive eight-wicket victory. Left-arm spinner Vaishnavi Sharma was the standout performer, taking five wickets and helping to bowl Zimbabwe out for just 131 runs in 39.5 overs. Following this, Pratika Rawal and Shafali Verma both scored unbeaten half-centuries, leading India to a comfortable win. This victory capped off a dominant series, as India had also won the preceding T20I series 3-0.
Zimbabwe Innings and Indian Bowling Performance
Zimbabwe won the toss and chose to bat first but faced difficulties against India's well-organized bowling unit. Sayali Satghare made the initial breakthrough by dismissing Loryn Phiri in the second over. Kranti Gaud followed up by taking out Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano for just four runs, putting Zimbabwe in a precarious position early on. Vaishnavi Sharma then took control, dismissing Beloved Biza for one and stumping opener Modester Mupachikwa for 37, breaking a 27-run partnership. Despite a valiant effort from captain Josephine Nkomo, who added 43 runs with Chiedza Dhururu, Zimbabwe struggled to recover. Vaishnavi's five-wicket haul was complemented by two wickets each from Satghare and Gaud, leading to Zimbabwe's total of 131.
Successful Run Chase and Conclusion
India's innings began with a hiccup as Yastika Bhatia was dismissed on the very first ball by Nomvelo Sibanda, caught by Francisca Chipare. Harleen Deol contributed 19 runs off 19 balls, including four boundaries, before being dismissed by Loryn Phiri. However, Shafali Verma and Pratika Rawal steadied the innings, forming an unbeaten partnership of 74 runs for the third wicket. Rawal finished with 59 not out, while Shafali scored 51 not out, sealing the victory with a six. India reached the target comfortably with eight wickets remaining, completing a clean sweep of the ODI series after their earlier success in the T20I series.
