Postponement of India's Bangladesh Tour

The Indian cricket team's scheduled tour to Bangladesh has been officially postponed, as confirmed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Saturday. Speculations regarding the postponement of the tour, originally set for August 2025, had been circulating for several days, and the decision has now been finalized. It is reported that the ongoing geopolitical tensions in Bangladesh played a significant role in this decision. The series was supposed to feature three One Day Internationals (ODIs) and three T20 matches between India and Bangladesh.

In a statement, the BCCI announced that both the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and BCCI have mutually agreed to delay the series of three ODIs and three T20 internationals, originally planned for August 2025, to September 2026. This decision was made after discussions between the two boards, taking into account the international cricket commitments and scheduling convenience of both teams. The BCB is looking forward to welcoming India for this highly anticipated series in September 2026, with new dates and schedules to be announced in due course.

Recently, BCB President Aminul Islam expressed uncertainty regarding the tour. Earlier in April, the BCB had announced the schedule for India's tour to Bangladesh, which included ODIs on August 17, 20, and 23, followed by T20 matches on August 26, 29, and 31. These matches were set to take place in Mirpur and Chattogram. The postponement has left fans of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli disappointed.
